A colander is a type of <a href="/b/bowl">bowl</a> with <a href="/h/handle">handles</a> and lots of <a href="/h/hole">holes</a> in the bottom. Colanders, sometimes called <em>drainers</em> or <em>strainers</em>, are used to drain water off wet food like freshly cooked <a href="/p/pasta">pasta</a> or to dry off washed <a href="/s/salad">salad</a> ingredients.
