Photo of salami
Salami is a sausage made from ground meat, usually pork or beef. It is mixed with salt and spices, put into a casing, and air-dried.

Salami originated in Italy, where it has been made for a long time. It is usually cut into thin slices and eaten cold in sandwiches or with cheese. Different Italian regions use different spices and preparation methods. Today it is made across the world, with different producers making their own different variations.
