List of holes

Different kinds of holes, gaps and other empty spaces.

Pis forPit

A pit is a large hole in the ground, usually dug for some purpose. A pit can be used for drainage disposal of waste, water storage, or even as a trap to catch animals or people. A pit can also mean a single, large seed found in the center of many fruits.

Ris forRut

A rut is a kind of hole in the ground, usually on a path or unsealed road, that has been made by the wheels of vehicles. You might also talk about a rut as a stage of your life where you don't seem to be progressing, as in "I feel like I am stuck in a rut".

Sis forSlot

A slot is a kind of long, narrow hole that is usually used for putting something in or through. A slot might also be an ordered piece of time you have during the day, for example "you have the 1-2pm time slot", or "I can slot you in at 10am".
