Persian cats are one of the oldest longhaired cat breeds. They are originally from Persia (now Iran). Persians come in a wide variety of colours, and have a distinctive flat face. Persian is also a language spoken in a number of countries.

Russian Blues are a kind of cat that arose naturally in Russia. They have a distinctive soft grey coat and a sleek appearance. They are intelligent, loyal, playful and friendly but can be shy of strangers.

Scottish folds are a breed of cat with ears that fold forward and down. They have round faces and large eyes and have sometimes been called the "owl cat". They have a reputation for being very loving, and are good companion cats.

A serval is a medium sized cat closely related to the caracal. Servals are from Africa, and have relatively the longest legs of any cat. They have a fairly short tail. Servals are spotted and look similar in some ways to cheetahs. Cheetahs are thought to have descended from an ancient serval.

Siamese cats are a breed originally from Thailand, which used to be called Siam. Siamese cats have a distinctive coat colour called pointed that is dark on the cooler parts of the cat like its legs, ears, face and tail.

A tiger is the largest wild cat. They live in forests and grasslands, and they hunt animals like deer and buffalo to eat. Tigers can jump up to five metres high. A female tiger is a tigress and a baby tiger is a cub.
