The digitalis, or foxglove, is a very attractive garden plant that has flowers in various shades of pink. It is a biennial, native to western Europe and parts of Asia and Africa. The entire plant is toxic, from roots to flowers. It is toxic fresh and dried, and if you have a vase of foxglove flowers, the water in the vase will be toxic too. A large enough dose will kill you, smaller doses cause hallucinations, nausea and severe headaches. It is toxic to people and animals, including cats and dogs.

Schnauzers are dogs from Germany with a distinctive hairy moustache - 'schnauzer' is the German word for moustache. They are usually a salt-and-pepper colour, with white and black hairs mixed together. They were originally bred as a rat catcher and guard dog, but there are now three different size breeds - large, standard and miniature. They are friendly, loving dogs and are good with children. They are protective and make excellent guard dogs.

The Australian kelpie is a medium sized dog that was bred to herd animals like sheep, cows and goats. Kelpies come in a range of colours but the most familiar one is a reddish-brown coat. Kelpies are very energetic and are only suitable to be kept as pets by people who have a lot of time and space to exercise them. Bored kelpies can be noisy and destructive.

A dingo is a kind of yellow dog that was introduced to Australia many hundreds of years ago. They howl, but they do not bark. When people started farming sheep in Australia, the dingos killed the sheep, so people built a fence right across Australia to keep the dingos out.
