Aim

You aim something that fires a projectile by pointing it so the projectile will hit a target.

You can also aim for a more abstract goal, like you can aim to lose five pounds by Christmas.

Alight

Alight can have many different meanings.

It might mean something that is on fire. It might also mean you are getting off something after it has stopped moving, like a horse or a train. It could also mean you are coming onto something after a flight, as in "see the bird alight on that branch".

Annoy

You annoy someone by bothering them until they are irritated, but not to the point of them being angry. The seagulls in the picture are annoying the people eating their lunch.

Argue

An argument is a kind of conversation where two or more people who disagree with each other all put forward the reasons for their side of an argument. A structured argument is usually called a debate, and an argument that gets very heated can turn into a fight.

Bask

Basking is sitting or lying in warmth, enjoying it. You can also bask in something pleasant, as in "she was basking in the attention".

Lizards like to bask in the sun because they are cold blooded and the sunshine warms them up.

Bend

You bend something when you change it from being straight into a curve. Someone has bent the metal bar in the picture.

Something is billowing if it is rising up or puffing out in a big surge, usually from the wind. sails and flags are often seen billowing.

Binding is a way of holding two or more things together, usually by tying or wrapping. Book pages are bound together down one edge to form a book.

Bite

You bite something when you hold it in your mouth, between your teeth. You usually bite to break off a piece of something, like biting off a mouthful of an apple.

Insects like mosquitos that don't have mouths like ours can still bite you with their tongues.

Bleach

Bleach is a chemical that removes colors. It is often used when washing stained white linen, like sheets and tablecloths, and people often bleach their hair to a lighter color. Things will often bleach naturally from the action of sunlight, without chemical help. The word 'bleach' can be used as a verb, as in to bleach something.
