A knob is a tool used to aid in the opening and closing of something, such as a door or a drawer. A knob is often rounded to make it easier to grasp and turn.

A lamp is a light that typically has a stand. Smaller lamps are usually put on small tables, and lamps with longer stands called floor lamps are put on the ground. Some lamps can be mounted to a wall. Lamps are most often seen inside, for decoration or for using as a small light source to read by.

A lantern is a protective or decorative case for a light of some kind, often a candle or oil lamp. Lanterns can be made of glass and metal like in the picture, or made of paper in interesting shapes.

A lasso (pronounced either lass-ooh or lass-oh depending on your dialect) is a length of rope with a loop at one end. It is used for catching animals like cows and horses.

A latch is a device that holds something like a door, gate or lid closed so it won't swing open by itself. A latch is not the same as a lock, but many latches have a place to put a lock, for extra security.

Lis forLava lamp

A lava lamp contains wax, water and a light which acts as heating element. As the lamp gets warm, the wax melts and starts to rise. As it rises it forms interesting shapes, which makes lava lamps fun to watch. Lava lamps come in all sorts of different colors, and the wax and water in them also come in different colors.
