Types of communication

Ways for people to communicate with each other.

A newspaper is a kind of large, unbound book that is printed every day on cheap paper. The newspaper usually has the day's news, advertising, things for sale, the state of the financial markets, sports results and anything else that has happened that is interesting enough to write about.

Ris forRead

Reading is a way of converting written words into spoken words. You can either read out loud or read inside your head so noone else can hear you. People who can't see can still read books. There are special books made for blind people that have patterns of small bumps instead of letters. This way of writing is called braille.

Sis forSecret

A secret is something nobody else knows but you. Sometimes you share your secrets with your best friends. If someone tells you a secret, you shouldn't tell anyone else.

Sis forSign

A sign is something that conveys some kind of meaning. Signs might be made up of pictures, words, or a combination of both. Many signs are just symbols, so that people will recognize what they mean no matter what language they speak. Signs don't need to be painted on a board - for example, deaf people communicate with sign language, using their hands to make symbols.
