Stairs are made out of lots of steps that you can climb to get somewhere higher. If you are in a tall building or a double storey house there will be a staircase so you can get to the next floor up. If a building has too many floors for someone to walk all the way up without getting tired, it will have an elevator or lift to take you to another floor.

A stake is any piece of wood, or sometimes metal, that is used for supporting something else. Stakes are generally driven into the ground and are used to support plants or young trees as they grow. Stakes usually have one end sharpened to a point, which makes it easier to drive them into the ground.

Stalactites are formed when water that has a lot of minerals dissolved in it drips through the roof of a cave and some of the minerals are left behind. Over a long time, the mineral deposits form into spikes hanging from the ceiling of the cave. Where water drips from a stalactite, stalagmites form.
