A street, or road in a city or town is a place that people live on, or that has shops on. There are buildings on either side of the street and people walk or drive on the street. A very narrow street like the one in the picture is sometimes called a lane.

You stretch something when you pull it so it becomes longer and thinner. When you do warm-up excercises you stretch the muscles in your body, so people call them stretching exercises. The girl in the picture is stretching some chewing gum.

Stretch marks are small lines that appear on the skin of people whose bodies have gone through a rapid change, such as growth, pregnancy or weight gain. Stretch marks are usually pink or purple when they appear and fade to silver or white after time passes.

Strips are long, thin pieces of something. The picture is of some torn strips of paper. You can also use the word strip to describe a group of things arranged in a long, narrow way, such as a strip of shops, or shopping strip. Strip also means to remove something from. You might strip off your clothes, or strip the plastic covering off some electrical cables.

Stripes are bands of alternating colors. You can have stripes of just two colors, or lots of different colors like the socks in the picture. Socks and ties are often striped, as are animals like tigers and zebras.
