F is for Fax machine

A fax machine is an electronic device that sends and receives copies of documents, called faxes, through a telephone line. It scans a paper page, changes the words and pictures into signals, and prints a copy at another fax machine. Many fax machines have a screen, buttons, a paper tray, and a telephone connection. The word "fax" is short for "facsimile", meaning an exact copy. Fax machines are less common today as people are more likely to use e-mail.
