Focaccia is a soft, flat Italian bread made from flour, water, yeast, olive oil, and salt. It is usually baked in a round or rectangular pan, with a golden crust, an airy texture, and small dimples on top.
Focaccia is strongly associated with Liguria in northwestern Italy. Before baking, cooks press the dough with their fingers and add olive oil. Rosemary, salt, or onions may be added. It can be eaten alone, with meals, or in sandwiches.
