Plovers are a group of similar birds. They are mostly small to medium shorebirds with a short, straight beak and neat, compact body. They live along beaches, mudflats, and other open coastal or inland water areas. Many plovers are known for their calm, watchful behavior and their habit of staying still to blend in with their surroundings.
