Shearing is the process of removing the
fleece from an animal like a
sheep or
alpaca. When the animal's
wool gets too long, it needs to be removed by shearing it. Most wild animals that grow wool shed their fleeces themselves once a year, but
domestic animals don't and need to be shorn.
