A weathercock is a metal figure, often shaped like a rooster, placed on top of a building. It shows which way the wind is blowing.
The wind pushes on the side of the weathercock which makes it change direction with the wind. Weathercocks are found on roofs of older houses, church towers, and barns. The word can also be used to describe a person who often changes their opinion.
