Body parts that start with T

Parts of your body. Not all of these are human parts - people don't have tails and wings but they still qualify as body parts!

Tis forTongue

Your tongue is a very strong muscle inside your mouth. It is covered in taste buds which let you taste your food. Your tongue is very important for talking with, and of course you can use it for making faces at people!

Tis forTonsil

Tonsils are glands located right at the back of your mouth. They are part of your immune system. When you get sick, often your tonsils get sore and swollen.

Tis forTooth

Teeth are the hard, white things in your mouth. Most animals have teeth, but birds and insects don't. Teeth are used for biting, tearing and chewing food. Once you are about five years old, you start to lose your baby teeth, one at a time, over several years.

Tis forTorso

Your torso, or trunk is the main part of your body, without your arms, legs and head. The picture is of a sculpture of a torso.
A trunk is an adaptation of an elephant's nose and top lip, fused together. Elephants have very long trunks, and use them as a tool. They can use them to pick up tiny objects, to break down trees, to drink with, and to spray themselves with water or mud.

Tis forTummy

Tummy or belly is a slang word for the part of your body where your stomach is.

Tis forTusk

A tusk is a large tooth that sticks out of the mouth of some animals. Elephants, walruses and warthogs have tusks. Elephant tusks are used to make ivory.
