A caramel slice is a sweet layered cake. It usually has a firm biscuit base, a soft caramel filling made with butter and condensed milk, and a thin chocolate topping. The layers are chilled or baked at different stages before the slice is cut into pieces. Caramel slices are very popular in Australia and New Zealand.
