Something is <em>overgrown</em> if it is covered in growth, outside of where it should be. Gardens can become overgrown if they are neglected and left to run wild with no-one to <a href="/p/prune/gardening">prune</a> the plants and pull out the <a href="/w/weed">weeds</a>.
