A taco shell is a thin, curved covering for taco fillings. It is usually made from corn flour or corn masa and cooked until crisp. Hard shells are often shaped like a half-moon.

Tacos originated in Mexico, where soft corn tortillas are traditional. Crisp, folded shells are common in Mexican-American cooking. They are filled with foods such as meat, beans, cheese, lettuce, and salsa.
