Verbs are things you do. Action words!

Ris forRoll

You roll when you lie down and move from your front to your back (or the other way around). If you keep rolling you can travel quite some distance. You roll a ball or something else round when you push or pull it along the ground and it moves by turning over and over without losing contact with the ground.

Ris forRoost

A roost is a place where birds go to sit, or the act of birds sitting down to roost. The chickens in the picture are roosting.

Ris forRub

You rub something by pressing firmly against it and moving backwards and forwards. People rub metal things with a cloth to clean them. People rub their eyes when they are tired. And dogs love having their tummies rubbed.

Ris forRuffle

You ruffle something when you mess it up so it isn't smooth and neat anymore. The bird in the picture has ruffled feathers. Ruffle can also be another word for a frill, although frills tend to be around the edges of things and ruffles can be anywhere.

Ris forRun

Running is a lot faster than walking. When you run, you take much longer steps, and you'll find that both of your feet are off the ground at the same time as you run.
