Past tense

Raced is the past tense of race. For example, "the children raced each other to the corner".

Rang is the past tense of ring. For example "he rang his girlfriend" or "she rang a bell".

A rung is a step of a ladder. Ladders are usually made up of many rungs.
Rung is also the past tense of ring.

Sat is the past tense of sit.

Sent is the past tense of send. For example, "I sent you a parcel in the post".

An animal or a person is shorn if they had all their hair, fur or wool removed. A person whose job is to shear animals is called a shearer.

Signed is the past tense of sign, but usually meaning signing your name as a signature. For example, "I signed for the parcel" or "I have a signed warrant".

Slept is the past tense of sleep.

Something is sold if someone has bought it. When houses are sold, they usually put a "sold" sign at the front of the house that stays there for some time after the house has been sold.
