A motor is a device that powers a car, truck or other machine and makes it move.
Mousetraps are small devices designed to catch mice. There are many different designs of traps, but all rely on using some kind of bait and a trigger mechanism that causes something to move very quickly and either catch or kill the mouse. Larger versions of mousetraps are available for catching rats.
Neon lights are a kind of light that make bright, colored light. It uses gas inside a tube plus electricity to glow. You may see neon lights on signs for shops, streets, and shows. Because they are made from long, thin tubes, they are most often seen to form writing.

An odometer is a device that is used for measuring how far you have traveled. Odometers are usually fitted inside cars and other vehicles.

An oven is a container that is made very hot by fire or some other heat source. More modern ovens have a door that closes tight and a very evenly regulated temperature. Ovens are used to cook food, most commonly baked goods like bread and pies and to roast meat or vegetables.
A paddle is a hand-held device that you push backwards through the water to make a boat or canoe move forward.

A padlock is a type of lock that is designed to go through two loops, like the two parts of a gate latch or two links of a chain. Padlocks are small and portable and are commonly used to lock sheds or lock up bicycles.
A parachute is a large piece of fabric you attach to yourself if you know you are going to fall a very long way and want to land safely. Parachutes slow down the speed of your fall by creating drag. Parachutes are used by skydivers, to slow down racing cars and space shuttles, and for dropping supplies to stranded people from a plane so the supplies don't break on the way down.

A pedal is a device that you operate with your foot. Pedals are found on all sorts of devices, like pianos, electronic keyboards and an assortment of other musical instruments, sewing machines, and of course bicycles.
