P is for Parquet

Parquetry is a type of floor covering made from small pieces of wood, cut and joined to form patterns.

Parquet floors are often found in older buildings and places where people want a special decorative look.

P is for Parrot

Parrots are one of the most intelligent birds. They can learn to say a few hundred words and make excellent pets. They originally come from the warmer areas of the world and are usually found in forests. They eat seeds, nuts and fruit. The can live for a long time, with the larger parrots sometimes living to 80 years old.

Parrotlets are small parrots with bright, colorful feathers and a short, rounded tail. They live in parts of Central and South America, often in wooded areas. Like most parrots, they eat seeds, fruit and nuts and people sometimes keep them as pets.

A particle is a very tiny piece of something, for example: a particle of dust.

P is for Partridge

A partridge is a small, round-bodied bird with a short beak and strong legs, usually with brown or grey feathers that help it blend into the ground. It lives in open fields, grasslands, and farmland, often hiding in thick cover. Partridges mostly walk on the ground to find seeds, grains, and small insects, and they use quick bursts of flight to escape danger.

Passionfruits are a small, tropical vine. The fruit itself is hard, and either yellow or almost black. The part of the passionfruit that you eat is the seeds and the flesh around the seeds. You cut the fruit in half and scrape the seeds out.

Pastiche is a pastry also called a nut roll. Pastiche is made from a dough filled with a sweet nut mixture.

A pasty is a kind of food that is made out of a round piece of pastry folded in half around some kind of filling. Pasties are most commonly filled with vegetables but you can also make a pasty with a meat filling.
Pasty is also a word for describing someone who is pale and unhealthy looking.

A path is a small road that connects two places. Paths are usually for people or animals, not large vehicles.
In math, a path is simply a way to connect two points, not necessarily in a straight line.

Paunch is used to describe where a person's belly sticks out a little bit more than it should.
