R is for Reset

Resetting something means to either set it again, or to set it back to some kind of previous state. You might reset the time on your clock if you get it wrong the first time, or reset a computer so it is back to a freshly started up state.

Residue is the leftovers from something else that is not there anymore. When you have food or drink, there is always a little residue left at the bottom of your plate or cup after you have finished eating or drinking.

Body parts

The respiratory tract is all the body parts that help you breathe. It is the path for air to move in and out of your body.

It includes the nose, throat, windpipe, and lungs. Air goes in through the nose, then down the windpipe to the lungs. In the lungs, oxygen goes into the blood and carbon dioxide leaves the body when you breathe out.

Sleep

You take a rest when you stop working and be still for a time.
Once you have had a good rest, such as the morning after a good sleep, you are well rested.

A restaurant is a place you go to eat. The chef at the restaurant makes the food for you and serves it to your table.
There are many different kinds of restaurants serving many different kinds of food. Some serve cheap food that you can take away, others serve expensive food and fine wines and are a good place to take someone to impress them if you want them to marry you.

Verbs

You restrain someone else when you hold them back and stop them from doing something. You can also restrain yourself, for example by stopping yourself having a second helping of dessert you are restraining yourself from eating too much.

Emotions

Restraint means holding back. It could mean a device that holds you in place or stops you moving, like a set of handcuffs. It might also mean self-control. The dog in the picture is showing great restraint in not eating the cookies.

Body parts

The retina is a thin layer of tissue at the back of the eye. It helps you see by turning light into signals that go into your brain.

The retina is connected to the brain through the optic nerve. When light enters your eye, the retina receives it and sends images as electrical signals. You can find the retina lining the inside surface at the back of each eye.

Reuse means to use something again. For example, portable water bottles are made to be reusable.

A reward is something you get given if you do something well. Rewards are often given to encourage people to do something good.

People often offer rewards for information or for the return of something, for example they might post offering a reward for the return of a lost pet.

The opposite of reward is punishment.
