Rats are like large mice. They often live near people, scavenging food scraps in rubbish tips or stored food in houses. Rats are pests and most people try and get rid of rats if they can.
Rats can also kept as pets. Pet rats tend to be white or multicoloured, and wild rats tend to be plain brown or grey.

Razor wire, or barbed tape is similar to barbed wire but is designed to stop humans rather than animals from passing. There is a single strand of barbed wire in the picture. Razor wire has sharp blades made from pressed stainless steel along its length. The blades are designed to give very bad cuts to anyone trying to climb over it.
Reach might mean you arrive somewhere after a journey, as in "she reached home after a long trip away".
It might also mean stretching out for something. The picture is of someone reaching for the sky. If you can't reach something no matter how far you stretch out your arms, it is said to be out of reach.
