List of places

A park is a place where people have planted lots of trees and shrubs and grass. Parks often have a pond or small lake in them, and sometimes a playground too. Parks are nice places to go to take a walk or play a sport like frisbee.

The peak of a mountain is its highest point. The top of anything may also be called its peak. Anyone or anything that is at the high or best point is also called a peak, for example "he was in peak physical condition" or "she was at the peak of her career".

A police station is a place where Police officers work. A police station might have interview rooms, storage for confiscated items, holding cells for people who have been arrested, storage for paperwork, and offices for Police officers to complete that paperwork in.

A prison, also called a jail, gaol or penitentiary, is a place where people who have done bad things are locked up as a punishment. Some people can be put in jail for many, many years because they have done something very, very bad.

A quarry is a large hole in the ground where rock is cut from to use for other purposes. Stone for making buildings from was taken from quarries before bricks were in widespread use.
