Types of communication

A signature is a special way of writing your name that is unique to you.
People usually sign legal agreements, letters and if they are famous they will also sign their autograph.

Skint is a slang word for poor. If you only have a few coins, you can say you're skint.

Soy is a common name for the soybean plant, and many things that are made from it.

Speech is the ability to talk. In a more formal context, a speech is a structured and generally quite long talk given in front of an audience. The man in the picture is giving a speech.

A symbol is a kind of picture that means something. Symbols are often used on signs, where they can express a lot of information that you can understand quicker and easier than writing.

Talking is making words with your mouth and tongue. When babies are born they cannot talk, and they gradually learn how to talk in the first few years of their life.

Tech is a short form of technology.

A telephone is a device that lets you talk to people who are a long, long way away from you - almost anywhere else in the entire world. Telephones are the most common appliance in the world.
More recently, telephones that don't need to be connected to the phone network by wires have been invented. These are called mobile phones.

A tome is a book, particularly a very thick reference book.
