A thatcher is someone who makes roofs out of thatch - usually straw, like in the picture.

T is for The

You use the when you are talking about a specific instance of something rather than a general one. For example, the dog to mean a particular dog or a dog to mean any dog.

T is for Thermometer

A thermometer is a device that tells you how hot or cold something is. There are many different types of thermometers for different heat ranges. Some tell you how hot you are so you know if you are so sick you are running a fever. Some tell you what temperature the air is, and others tell you how hot your oven is.

The thermometer in the picture works by the expansion and contraction of mercury as the temperature changes, but most thermometers today are digital and simply display numbers.

Something is thick if it is a larger than normal distance from one side to another. Things like slices of bread are often described as thick. The picture is of some toast with a thick layer of chocolate flavored spread on it.
The opposite of thick is thin or sparse.

Thorny devils, also called the thorny dragon, are lizards that live in dry regions in Australia. They grow to around 8 inches long, and can live to 20 years. They eat ants. Their skin has channels in that funnel water to their mouths if they get damp, which allows them to drink morning dew.
Thoroughbreds are kind of horse that are bred for speed. They are used mainly as racehorses, but are also used for other kinds of riding.
