A raft is the most simple form of boat. Rafts can be made from anything that will float. The raft in the picture is a purpose-made inflatable raft.

A rickshaw is a small vehicle used to move people around. It usually has a seat for one or two passengers and a cover to protect them from the sun or rain.

Some rickshaws are pulled by a person walking or running, while others are powered by someone pedalling like a bicycle or a motor like a motorcycle. They are commonly used for short trips in busy cities and towns.

Sandpaper, originally called glasspaper, is paper with something rough stuck to one side. Sandpaper is used for removing old paint from things, for making wood or similar surfaces smooth, or for roughening up a surface.

A screw is a type of fastener that you use to attach things together with. Wooden furniture is often held together with screws. Screws are threaded so that they are less likely to pull out once they have been tightened, unlike nails. Screws come with different shaped holes in the top, and the ends of screwdrivers come in the same shapes. The commonest ones are flathead or slotted head, and phillips head (cross shaped).

A scythe is a long-handled tool that is still used in some parts of the world to mow grass. Modern machinery is used today instead of scythes for the same job.
Today, the scythe is associated with death and the Grim Reaper.

A ship is a large vehicle that travels on the sea. Ships can be powered by sails, like the ship in the picture, or powered by engines. Modern freight ships can carry an enormous amount of cargo.

A sickle is a cutting tool with a curved blade that used to be used to harvest grain by hand. Sickles are still used in some developing countries but in developed countries they have been largely superseded by mechanical harvesters.

A sled, sledge or sleigh is a vehicle that moves along by sliding. Sleds usually have thin runners underneath instead of wheels. Sleds work best on ice or snow. Sleds are usually pulled along by an animal like a horse or husky, but you can also slide in a sled by yourself if you are going down a slope. People often call a sled pulled by horses or deer a sleigh, a sled pulled by dogs a sled and a sled you slide yourself a toboggan.

A space shuttle is a vessel that can be used to take people and objects like satellites out into orbit around the Earth. Space shuttles use a huge amount of fuel to break the forces of gravity holding them down.
