A fissure is a relatively deep, narrow hole in something. Some fissures are natural features of things, others are caused by external damage.

You can count to five on your fingers on one hand. The number before five is four. The number that comes after five is six.

You fix, mend or repair something if it is broken and doesn't work. Fixing it will make it work again, or make it look as good as new. Not everything that is broken can be fixed.

Something that has lots of tiny little bubbles in it is fizzy.

A flame is a small part of a fire. You typically see a flame burning on a candle or when you light a match.

Something is flammable if it is possible to set it on fire. Some things are more flammable than others, and a larger surface area tends to make things more flammable. For example, dry grass is highly flammable but large pieces of wood won't catch fire easily.

Flank is another word for around your waist on your sides, the part of your body between your ribs and your hips.

You flap something when you move it backwards and forwards around a hinge point. Birds flap their wings to fly, people flap their arms for fun and a loose window shutter will flap in the wind.

Flares, or bell bottoms, are jeans or pants that get much wider below the knee. Flares were popular in the 1960s.
